Equine Assisted Learning
Horses are one of the most perceptive animals on the earth. With this perception comes an innate ability to read the environment around them. This environment includes the people around, and interacting with them. Further more, the equine will interact with the set of circumstances being presented to them in a very honest and immediate way. This opens the door for the therapist/horse professional to transfer the horse/client interaction to the client's everyday life situations.
Horses can have an impact on a number of areas including:
• Overcoming Fears • Making Decisions • Managing Anger • Developing Assertiveness • Building Confidence • Focusing Attention • Increasing Trust & Awareness • Leadership • Taking Responsibility for Actions • Learning about Response vs Reaction •
EAL involves the collaboration between a therapist, an equine specialist and a horse. This is client focused experiential therapy for clients in crisis or as an integral part of longer term therapeutic care.
EAL sessions are on-going and approximately one and a half hours in length. These sessions are suitable for individuals, couples & families. We request prior to the session some information to determine the most beneficial approach. Designed to work hand-in-hand with the client's therapist or social worker.
