Luca, Kiwi Sport Horse Cross gelding, 8 years
Luca, son of Thunder & Jaffa, full brother to Jameela: A horse with PERSONALITY PLUS. When he was born our good friend and former working student Jo dreamed of him being named Luca and so it was:-).
An absolute clown with other horses as well as with people. He gets every gelding in the herd to play. When humans enter the paddock he usually is the first one to say hello. If you are wearing a hat it'll be gone soon. He loves kids, and he definately has a lot of humor. At a EAP presentation he was looking over the presentors shoulder "reading" her notes and then as the presentation went on, lay down between her and the audience and fell asleep.
When he was two years old he had a paddock accident and we thought we would never be able to ride him. But he became a groundwork master, Nadja , a friend and Horsemanship trainer from Germany even taught him the Spanish walk. After that whenever you asked him something he wasn't immediately sure what you wanted he would offer the Spanish walk, even in the paddock. The last two years he developed physically and the scar tissue of the accident doesn't bother him anymore. So he became Anke's project to start, a first for her. What a joy to work with him and so easy and hungry for learning more. In the arena Luca is chewing almost the whole time taking everything in, he enjoys jumping and we are playing with foundations in dressage. Luca is very soft, breathing out and sitting deep is enough to stop him. His canter is a dream, his trot he inherited from his Mum...we're working on it;-). The second rider ever on him, Nina from Germany, who took him further in his "riding education"(thanks again for your input:-)), absolutely enjoyed this boy, so did our friend Matina: their opinion: Luca conquers your heart and you get addicted to him:-)....his fanclub is growing.

Kola, Clydesdale Cross mare, 6 years
Kola, native american for 4legged friend is another stunning foal by Thunder out of our beloved Clydesdale Kimmie.
She is Ian's daughter's horse. Annalese is starting her herself with her Dad's help. She has had her first saddle on this summer, no worries at all. When Annalese and Kola have a play in the roundpen even some our working students cannot believe how easy it all looks. As Kola is a very confident horse, Annalese needs to be very clear in her communication, and she is with impecible timing. A wonderful journey to witness between those two.
Kola is the lead mare in training by the look of the herd dynamics and Jameela's "bodyguard". The two halfsisters have an incredible strong bond and Luca joins the "teenager gang". For Kola no fence is too high and no drains too wide to jump, so she ends up in a different paddock than the rest of the herd quite regularly, just because she can:-).

Jameela, Kiwi Sport Horse Cross mare, 2 years
Jameela meaning graceful, beautiful , lovely is the baby of the herd at the moment and Anke's personal horse. She has got Thunder's stunning looks and movements and Jaffa's loveliness. With her being a dun adds a little bit of variety amongst our bays;-). In the herd she gets treated like a princess. If Jameela races around and bumps into the other horses at full speed they don't even tell her off. Several times when she was a bit younger she would just stand in the paddock and the others would come over to groom her and even fighting over it, never seen that before in our life. Even Vic who usually sets very quick very firm boundaries allows her everything...so it's up to me, Anke to set some boundaries. Like her halfsister Kola she has amazing jumping abilities and climbing or jumping fences (even electric ones), exploring the next paddock is just sooooo much fun. Well, she has learned now to respect a person's space, picking up and getting her feet trimmed and being lead is the beginning of our jorney together.
